Dorothea Lorenz – a Copenhagen resident, a mother and a traveller – told us how she managed to derive income from all three activities.
Our beautiful, light, urban-style apartment in the heart of Copenhagen is in 2 minutes walking distance to the pedestrian zone or Nørreport station, situated in a calm courtyard with a large sunny terrace in a lovely neighborhood with plenty of bars and restaurants. We use our place often for family events, warmup before going to the city with friends as it is situated so centrally.
But as we love travelling we had the idea to rent our place out via AIrbnb, which turned out to be a great success, our guest loved the place and enjoyed staying here while we received money being on vacation. We also started a meetup at our home where Danes and internationals enjoyed cooking and eating together.
Later, when our daughter was born, the mother group, organized by the local communities for young mothers, needed a local to take place. So, while being on maternity, I hosted various mother meeups.
Now that we are both back at work, our daughter has a lot of friends visiting her every day. The nanny uses our place to provide her day care service for up to 6 small toddlers on some busy days. So while we are out at work all day, our place is filled by a bunch of lively kids enjoying the fact that for most parents this location is quite close to deliver their little one.
Also, our appartment turned out to be stylish enough so that we recently got a request for shooting a commercial. We will rent it out for 10 hours on two days. So besides the function of us living there our place has many other benefits and for us it is a win win.
